STORY

Syöte Mushroom and Herb was born from a lifelong passion for mushroom picking and the gifts of nature.

I have been enthusiastically exploring the world of mushrooms and collecting other gifts of northern nature all my life. Gardening and vegetable growing have also always been one of my most important hobbies in the summer. However, my main job was elsewhere for 30 years, telecommunications technology and engineering education filled my working days and sometimes even my evenings.


Over time, it began to feel like there was something else I could do in this life, something that would be closer to my heart. Our children also grew up and I started to have more time to devote to my own hobbies. First, I took a mushroom consultant course, then I became interested in the agrologist education offered by the University of Applied Sciences. I completed an agrologist degree alongside my work and became really interested.

My previous job ended in 2017 and I was free to think about a new career for the rest of my life. I had already founded this enterprize in 2016 to complete my agrology studies internships in my own company. I decided to start developing my company around mushrooms, berries and garlic. I also thought about utilizing my teacher training and experience by offering various training and consulting services. All of this has slowly built up into a versatile package.

Our home on the shores of beautiful Lake Naamankajärvi, south of Syöte National Park, serves as a great base. I built my own small work house at the back of the yard, where you can not only process natural products, but also gather for coffee or give mushroom lectures to small groups.

Now all the necessary resources are starting to be gathered and we can get down to business!
