TIPS FOR USING BERRY POWDERS
Berry Powders – Versatile and Flavorful
Berry powders can be used in a variety of dishes and as flavorful seasonings. Here are a few tips to try out!
Game Dishes
Cranberry and lingonberry powders are excellent for seasoning game dishes and their sauces.
Smoothies and Yogurts
-
Add 1 teaspoon of berry powder to 200 ml of yogurt, sweeten to taste with honey or sugar, mix well, and enjoy chilled.
-
For smoothies, you can use yogurt or plant-based drinks such as oat, soy, coconut, or almond milk. Quark also works well in smoothies.
-
Berry powder thickens smoothies by absorbing liquid. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can dilute with water, milk, or juice.
-
For a thicker smoothie, increase the amount of berry powder or add a pinch of hemp or nut crumble.
-
On a hike, you can make a smoothie by mixing berry powder and powdered yogurt with water and shaking vigorously.
Desserts
-
A sprinkle of berry powder on ice cream adds a pleasant flavor and beautiful color.
-
Berry powder can also be used in homemade ice cream, giving it a strong taste and vibrant color even in small amounts.
-
Berry powder enhances the flavor of various desserts, such as:
-
Panna cotta – try cloudberry powder!
-
Frozen desserts and mousses
-
Homemade marmalade candies
-
Quark and milkshakes – everyone can flavor theirs to their own taste!
Baking
Berry powders are great for baking because they don’t loosen the dough or finished product.
-
Try adding them to muffin batter for easy flavor variations.
-
Use them to flavor and color cheesecake: mix the powder into the filling. Since berry powder contains no water, it won’t make the cheesecake runny—in fact, it makes the filling firmer.
-
You can also sprinkle powder on top of the finished cake as decoration. Use a stencil or doily to create beautiful patterns.
Hot Drinks
Hot drinks are easy to make by simply mixing berry powder into hot water and letting it infuse for a moment. Sweeten to taste with sugar or honey. A good ratio is about 1 teaspoon of powder per 200 ml of water.
Cranberry and blueberry powders work especially well in hot drinks.
